DISTURBED
ASYLUM
ASYLUM, the fifth album, has launched DISTURBED directly to the first position on the Billboard 200 passing a number of artists already over samples in record sales. The new record, by all accounts, marks the final transition to heavy metal in the classic sense of the word. The classic sound of DISTURBED was not affected in any way and you can see clearly all the features and characteristics that have marked the band in question from the beginning.
David Draiman (vocals) stated clearly the change of course on which they were constructed coordinates ASYLUM and has focused attention on the texts and the contents of songs from the album, the singer wanted maggiormemte focus attention on his personal problems and those of the world including global warming spoken of in the track ANOTHER WAY TO DIE represented by a nice video / documentary.
Expectations for the disc were so many. The problem is that few songs are worth to be mentioned. This is not to say that the disk is bad, but suffers from a lack of ideas and some tracks seem to copies of songs that Disturbed have already written. Musically, however, remain at high levels and guitarist Dan Donegan has remarkable guitar skills and a clean in the sound worthy of the best guitar heroes. Very beautiful and then the solos that characterize the pieces (all probably remnants of the instrumental intro).
The first thing that catches the ear in ASYLUM is precisely the large space given to Dan Donegan's guitar at the expense of the voice of David Draiman, that compared to other discs, engages in a partial manner in those unique vocals that have become over time his trademark. The album was produced in an outstanding and tracks like the title track alone are worth buying the album. The Infection also beautiful, classic piece to DISTURBED, with a sound structure and have already used and proposed by the group earlier. Along the same line comes the remarkable WARRIOR (one of the best tracks on the disc) and Never Again with a great solo Donegan. This is the starting pain, at least for me, with a whole parade of songs that reek of pointless to have heard and irretrievably ruining the album. The tracks, as I said a little earlier, are not bad but they forget easily. MY CHILD INNOCENCE and towards the end, retire on the minds back on track and the disc and then finalize everything with the new cover of Disturbed this time we have gone to U2 I Still Have not Found What I'm Looking FOR after the cover of the Tears for Fears and Genesis in the previous albums. To note the limited edition version of the disc because it features live versions of two pieces of ninety menu DISTURBED: Down With The Sickness and Stricken beautiful.
The album, despite the criticism, will sell bad. Will still be a good quality disc with a piece of the Madonna as ASYLUM which gives its name to the album and that alone is worth the purchase.
