After 9 years back the STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, pioneers of Grunge with Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Nirvana.
singer Scott Weiland, after the parenthesis VELVET REVOLVER, has definitively broken with SLASH and company to return to its roots: the group and not fully who has covered the music. I say this because the new album is called just STONE TEMPLE PILOTS at times recalls the sounds that marked the beginning of the group. Raise your hand if you do not remember how CORE and PURPLE album that brought the band to great success, raise your hand if you do not remember the great songs such as plush or Interstate Love Song to name just two.
In this regard, the new record, to my great regret (I'm a big fan of STONE) does not remember a tube of that past. First, Scott Weiland's voice is very flat because it is no different, as in the past for its famous steps and a heavy baritone timbre to a more soft and delicate, another disappointment, in my opinion, is the style of the band the new disk is focused on areas and Pop Hard Rock Classic rather than on the style, defined by the mass Grunge (was actually a crossover of Punk, Hard Rock and Heavy Metal), who had conquered 90 years. This is not to say that the disk is bad. I heard only 2 times and maybe the third will go crazy. The problem is that I and probably all other fans expect a Core 2. Despite this there are beautiful pieces: all HAZI DAZE riffone with a nice crackling, BETWEEN THE LINES, the new single, the smell of already heard the band's repertoire, but you listen to, beautiful classic rockettoni TAKE A LOAD OFF and huckleberry crumble, FAST AS I CAN remember a little about the VELVET REVOLVER , Maver is a nice ballad backed by a pleasant round of piano. The disc is still filled with expertly tracks from Pop Rock charts which do not affect the way down: HICKORY dichotomy is sometimes bluesy, IF YOU DARE DARE is a type of ballad style of which has already been used several times by the group in previous records, Rock and Pop CINNAMON Bagman are cheap.
Stone Temple Pilots are in ITALY on 28/06/2010 SIXTH of the bridge crane SAN JUAN, the last album certainly does not stand out but myself, if all goes well, will be ..... this is still a large group that despite his age, goes on his way.
